Kanva Dynasty or 'Kannava Dynasty' or 'Kannavan Dynasty' (circa 73 B.P. to 28 BC) was the ruling dynasty of Magadha after the Shung Dynasty. This descent was founded by Vasudeva. Brahmin Amatya of Devabhuti, the last King of Vasudev Shung Dynasty. Amati Vasudev took control of the kingdom of Magadha by conspiring against the last Shunga King Deobhuti.
Invasion of Shakon The assassination that Vasudeva had achieved by killing his lord Devabhuti was a scandal of a huge powerful empire. At this time, on the northwestern border of India, the Saka Invader was attacking India with great speed, due to which not only the remote district of the Magadha empire had emanated from the empire, but there was disorder even in the adjacent territories of Magadha. Vasudev and his successor only held the status of local kings. His state was confined to Pataliputra and its adjoining territories.
There were only four kings in Kanva Dynasty, whose names are Vasudev, Bhumititra, Narayan, Sushma. These four kings ruled together for 45 years. His reign dates to 73 B.C. East to 28 BC Can be understood till These 'Kanva' or 'Kanvaayan' kings in the Puranas have been called as 'Shung Bhartya'.It is clear that Vasudeva Kanauj Shunga King was the son of Deobhuti. But to call the four Kanva kings as Shung-Bharti: It is perhaps that even in their times, Shung Vanshi kings were sitting on the throne only, though all the power was in the hands of these devotees. Perhaps this is why after mentioning the names of the Andhra people who came to power on the Magadha Empire, it has been written that they defeated both Kanva and Shunga and got the power.
An adjective 'Pranav-Samant' has also been given for the Kanva kings in one place in Puranas, from which it is known that the Kanva King had also succeeded in accepting his subordination to other kings. But there is no information available about this king. The last king of this lineage was Sushma, around 28 BC. The founder of the Andhra dynasty was killed by Simu and with this the Kanva Dynasty came to an end.
